Snakes Used Realistically in Movies |
It's rare, but it happens!
This is an alphabetical list of movies in this category taken from the main Snakes in Movies List.
You can see more pictures and read a description of the snake scenes by following the title link.
These are movies in which snakes are shown behaving as they would normally in the wild (or close enough.)
They're not just depicted as monsters, though characters might still be afraid of them.
These are fictional films, not nature documentaries, so I don't expect that there will ever be many movies on this page,
given the popular misconceptions about snakes which are often amplified and exploited by filmmakers entertain the audience.
These are meant to be wild snakes in the story, though they might be captured and handled by a character.
Ironically, most of the snakes are actually captives that were brought to the movie set by a company that rents animals.
Spoiler Alert !
Some of these pictures and descriptions may give away plot details that you might not want to know before watching a film.

Triangle of Sadness (2022) (IMDB)
Nominated for Academy Awards for Best Motion Picture of the Year, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, this movie satires the relationships between the rich and the working class and between power and beauty. After a small group of survivors from a cruise for the ultra-wealthy is shipwrecked on a beach, they huddle together in a raft at night. Strange loud noises from the dark jungle scare them and us as well. The camera shows us two Boa Constrictors crawling in some vines towards the raft, just to scare us even more, but that fright is never paid off. Unfortunately for this list, an army of snakes did not descend on the raft, nobody is bitten or strangled by snakes and nobody heroically fights them off. The snakes are simply never shown again. I know I'm always begging for a more realistic treatment of snakes in movies, and that's what this is, but I was still disappointed, having learned to expect misinformation and over-dramatization.
