This is a gruesome horror comedy with violent deaths that are so disturbing and so bizarre that you almost laugh at them. Two twin boys find a toy monkey drummer in their missing father's belongings. After they turn it on, people start dying grisly deaths, and the boys realize that the monkey is responsible. It's impossible to destroy it, so they throw it into a well, but 25 years later the monkey gets free and continues the violent killings.
In the snake scene, one of the twins, Hal (Theo James) is talking to Barbara (Tess Degenstein) a local realtor. She tells him about the many freak accidents in the small town that have recently killed people, including Hal's aunt who was burnt and impaled, a man who was decapitated by a lawnmower, a man killed by hot steam from an espresso machine, and Nancy Rizzoli (Katie Stuart), a golfer who sunk a put then reached down to the cup to get the ball when a cobra jumped out of the hole and bit her on the throat. After hearing about the snake killing, Hal calmly says "But there aren't any cobras in Maine, I mean, are there?" and she replies "Well, there was the one."
The golf course "cobra" appears to be all CGI, which explains how it could be in Maine and how it could jump so high. It's not likely a real cobra could do any of that.
