This is a made-for-TV action adventure comedy, the first in a series, about Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle), an over-30 bookworm professional student with 22 degrees who has amassed an enormous amount of useless knowledge. When his professor kicks him out of school forcing him to find a job, he is offered a job at "the Library" which is actually a top-secret ancient institution entrusted with protecting valuable legendary and historical artifacts.
On his first day at work, Judson (Bob Newhart) the man who hired him shows Flynn around the library where he sees a lot of legendary artifacts - the Arc of the Covenant, Pandora's Box, the goose that lays golden eggs, the Holy grail, the Golden Fleece, Excalibur, King Mydas, a Unicorn, and the Mona Lisa. After seeing those, when Flynn sees a large snake above an apple he assumes it's the apple from the Garden of Eden, but Judson picks up the apple and bites into it saying that it's just an apple he left there a couple of days ago.
The library is also home to a part of the Spear of Destiny. It has been divided into three pieces to make it harder for someone to use it. When the Library's spear is stolen, Flynn is ordered to go find it. His quest brings him and his bodyguard Nicole Noone (Sonya Walger) to the Amazon jungle where they explore a hidden Mayan temple and find a part of the spear. As they exit the temple, they walk by a large snake draped on some stone as part of the scenery.
The bad guys in the plot are called "The Serpent Brotherhood." They stole the Spear of Destiny piece from the Library and they are also searching for the other parts to use the spear to rule the world. The male members of the brotherhood have snakes tattooed on their forearms. Instead of a tattoo on her arm, a female member named Lana (Kelly Hu) has a snake tramp stamp and a silver snake emblem on a black choker around her neck.
The snake in the museum is a Burmese Python and the snake in the jungle is a Boa Constrictor, which actually is found in the Amazon, unlike hidden Mayan temples.
