The Intruder (2010) (The Revenge of the King Cobra)

Spoiler Alert !

Some of these pictures and descriptions may give away plot details that you might not want to know before watching the film.

This is a wild and violent snakes-run-amok horror movie made in Thailand. An army of snakes invades a large apartment building, killing everyone they find. We watch a group of people who are trapped in the building, one by one, get bitten by the snakes and die. The version I watched did not deal much with the reasons for the snake attack, but the IMDB description explains that the snakes are angry that the apartment building was built on the site of an ancient snake graveyard guarded by an evil cobra spirit. We see a large white cobra at the end of the movie that could be the head snake.

There are lots of side stories - people fight and kill each other over a serum that a doctor just happens to have with him that can cure snakebite with one shot. One man stumbles into a room full of snake eggs and is attacked by baby snakes. Later we see that he has little snakes crawling under his skin that are popping out of the skin. A reporter with a phone camera calls her paper and is ordered to take pictures to send them and she's told they are not going to call the police or try to rescue her until they get a good story. She manages to send a few pictures before getting snaked.

In one brief segment, we see a couple having sex in a bed and when the man goes into the bathroom, the woman feels something touching her under the covers. She asks the man if he wants it again. Then we see a snake crawling over her leg under the covers. When she realizes she is alone in the bed and throws off the covers, she sees an erect cobra on the bed between her legs. We don't see what happens, but it's pretty obvious.

A boy in the apartment next door to the sexy couple spies on them through a hole in the wall. After the lovers' room is overrun with snakes, one snake crawls up to the hole in the wall and bites the boy's eyeball looking through the hole . The boy jerks back in pain and pulls the snake into his room where we watch him pull the snake off his face, pulling out his eyeball. That's gotta hurt.

Most of the snakes we see are fake snakes, mostly computer-generated as far as I can tell. We do see a few real ones. The movie is certainly inspired by previous snakes run amok movies, especially Calamity of Snakes. The use of CGI snakes instead of live ones is a little disappointing, but a benefit of doing so is that the production did not end up killing hundreds of live snakes.
