"Half man, half beast--he sold his soul for passion!"

This is a weird black and white horror movie with a man possessed by the devil who turns into a rattlesnake. We don't see him transform into the snake, but we do see the snake.

An old man who lives in a rundown shack in New Mexico sells his soul to the devil so he can turn into a young man (Nick Richards). Nick uses witchcraft and black magic spells that require fresh goat blood marked on a hexagram symbol marked on the floor of his house, hoping to win a woman (Nell) away from her fiance (David) by killing anybody in his way. Nick earns the trust of Nell and David. But unknown to them, he uses magic to make David's dog attack him and disfigure his face with a huge scar. Then Nick kills the plastic surgeon who was coming to help David. He later uses magic to turn himself into a horse to kill another man. The town Sheriff asks him why he never sweats on a hot day and Nick jokingly tells him he's really the Devil - "Got kind of hot down there, so I came up here to cool down."

Nell, her father the town doctor and the Sheriff come running when they hear the gunshot. David tells them there was a rattlesnake in his house and he thinks he wounded it. They find blood on the floor and on the ground outside the window, then they try to follow the trail to find Nick. They ask a drunk woman if she has seen a snake in a brief comic scene, and she tells them she saw Nick who was wounded and tells them which direction he was going, but Nick disappears before they can find him. The doctor is suspicious that Nick has the power to turn himself into anything he wants, and they soon discover that this is true when Nick becomes a horse that runs away from them.
