After seeing Femi Benussi's brief but luminous performance in Pasolini's "The Hawks and the Sparrows" (1966) (no herps, but there is a Marxist talking Raven) I did a search to see what other movies she made and discovered this gem. She plays Tarzana, a girl who has lived in the jungle most of her life, who rides around on an elephant wearing nothing but a loin cloth, like Tarzan. In fact, she spends most of the movie swimming, and talking to her chimp, and cuddling with baby wildcats while wearing nothing but a loin cloth. When she makes her version of the Tarzan yell, animals come running to her, including leopards, monkeys, and a snake. |
