Ryan Phillipe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Channing Tatum play soldiers who have just returned from Iraq. In one scene they are outdoors at a ranch in Texas. Joseph Gordon-Levitt shoots a rifle at his wedding gifts that for some reason were still in his car when his wife kicked him out of the house. Then Ryan Phillipe grabs a rifle and quickly shoots a rattlesnake. A third guy picks it up and says it's "an old grandaddy rattler right where you would have stepped cousin…. ooh she's beautiful." We are supposed to believe that Phillipe saved the life of Channing Tatum who would have stepped on it. Whatever. Later we see Phillipe and Tatum outdoors at night at a stove gutting and skinning the snake and chopping tomatoes prepare to cook the snake. Later Phillipe holds the severed head and threatens Tatum with it leading to a brief wrestling match. Then he teases Gordon-Levitt with it.
