This is a western about a lone stranger named Joe Dakota who rides into a California town to visit an old Indian man, and discovers that the Indian, who borrowed the name of Joe Dakota, has suddely disappeared, and the townspeople are hiding a secret about what happened to him.
In one scene we see the leader of the townspeople ride a hourse up a hill. Then we see a shot of a rattling rattlesnake. Then we see the man fall off his horse and roll down the hill. He gets back on the horse and keeps going. Not long after that we find out that he's the one who caused all the trouble, so I think the rattlesnake scene is just a foreshadowing that the man is headed for a more serious fall.
