Some of these pictures and descriptions may give away plot details that you might not want to know before watching the film.
This is a sequel to the 1991 movie "Hot Shots!" which was a great parody of "Top Gun". This one also stars Charlie Sheen as Topper Harley, an ex-officer called in on a special military operation during the 1990-1991 Gulf War in Iraq. It parodies all sorts of movies, TV shows, and TV commercials, but mostly it's a parody of war action movies, especially the Rambo movie where he goes into the jungle to rescue some P.O.W.s. There are also a lot of funny movie references including a scene where Charlie Sheen is on a riverboat when he passes his father Martin Sheen on another boat, in a parody of Martin's role in "Apocalypse Now" and the two actors point at each other and say that they loved each other in the movie "Wall Street" which they both had a part in. I like movies that parody other movies and movie clichés, especially this one because it has a snake scene that parodies snake scenes in movies that exist for no good reason other than to show how courageous the hero is.
After parachuting into the woods, Harley and his team are making their way through a forest to Saddam Hussein's compound to rescue some American prisoners of war when a snake drops down from a tree into a the face of one of the soldiers, Rabinowitz (Ryan Stiles). Harley quickly grabs the snake by the neck, stretches it towards the ground, then releases it, making it snap back to the branch above that it's sitting on. The snake rapidly wraps around and around the branch like a retractable coiled cord returning to its holder. The two men look at each other as if they had just survived a catastrophe, then Rabinowitz crosses his eyes, and falls to the ground.
As far as I know this is not a parody of a snake scene in any particular movie, it's just a parody of a sudden scary appearance of a dangerous snake in a tree, a trope that we have seen in lots of movies. It also reminds me of the movie "Hard Target" in which tough guy Jean-Claude Van Damme grabs a rattlesnake by the throat to save someone. But the retractable snake on a branch bit is unique and pretty funny.
The snake we see is not a real snake, it's only a puppet, but it's realistic enough for comedy.
