In this beautiful Korean film a young boy (5 or 6) is learning from his Buddhist master. They live in a one-room temple that sits on a floating island on an isolated lake in the mountains of South Korea.
At the end of the film, we see a young boy who has been brought to train in the floating temple. The main story is about a different young boy at the temple who abused some small animals, causing him to carry a burden in his heart for the rest of his life. The new boy finds a turtle crawling on the deck, picks it up, and torments it as young boys do. This is to show us that like the cycle of the seasons, some things never change.
