This is a classic Alfred Hitchcock crime thriller about terrorists in London plotting to blow up a bunch of innocent people for some cause that is never explained. The movie focuses on Karl Verloc (Oscar Homolka) a man who runs a movie theater with his wife. He goes to the aquarium to meet a man who is supposed to pay him for causing a blackout, but the man refuses to pay unless Karl sets off a bomb in a crowded public space. But before they have that conversation, they make small talk in front of the sea turtle tank, like we've seen in a few other movies. This is the earliest example of a meeting in front of a sea turtle aquarium I've seen, but I certainly haven't seen everything.
Some other films with scenes in front of sea turtle tanks are:
Arabesque (1966) The Lady From Shanghai (1947) The Lineup (1958) Curse of the Yellow Snake (1964) |
