This is a buddy comedy starring Kevin Hart as Sonny Fisher, a stay-at-home dad, Mark Wahlberg as Huck Dembo, Sonny's old but estranged friend and a troublemaker who convinces Sonny to join him for a wild weekend while his wife and kids are out of town. Regina Hall is Maya, Sonny's wife, a professional architect who works for a rich man named Armando and is secretly designing a tortoise sanctuary for him.
Maya and Sonny have a pet tortoise at home named Hokey Pokey that has a habit of defecating on the kitchen floor which makes Sonny slip and fall. We see Sonny dancing around with the tortoise which roams free through the house, including when people are dancing at a party.
During his weekend away Sonny learns that Armando has gone to visit Maya and that makes him even more jealous of Armando. He and Huck drive all the way to Armando's mansion in the hills to vandalize it by peeing in his pool and throwing away all of his left shoes.
Sonny tells Huck that the tortoises are Armando's family so they can really hurt him by setting one of them free. Sonny convinces Huck to help him carry one of the tortoises out to the main gate to set it free. The tortoise is in no hurry to get away and Sonny has second thoughts about letting it go. They put the tortoise back on the driveway but as they begin to drive away their driver accidentally runs over the tortoise. They put the injured tortoise in the car and take it to an animal hospital where they drop it off like a gunshot victim and run away. One of the vets sees them and curses at them as they race away. Later they call the hospital and are told that the tortoise will survive. We see it later back home wrapped in a pink bandage. Sonny and Huck didn't consider that Armando had security cameras and that all of their crimes, including the tortoise abduction and injury, were recorded for Armando to show everbody later.
