This is a science-fiction classic based on a James Verne novel about Captain Nemo and his advanced submarine named the Nautilus that he uses to sink ships. There are a few scenes with sea turtles and a turtle-shell stringed instrument.

After Captain Nemo brings a professor onto the Nautilus, he introduces him to the "wonders of the sea." They put on diving suits and walk along the bottom of the ocean to watch other divers gathering and farming food for the crew. We see the divers collecting eggs from traps, harvesting seaweed, catching lobsters and fish in nets, and we also see them carrying sea turtles, presumably to bring them aboard to be eaten.

Later we see Ned Land (Kirk Douglas) making a stringed instrument out of a small turtle shell. When he opens Nemo's safe and starts stealing some jewels from a cache of treasure, he is interrupted by a seal that starts barking, so when a man comes to investigate the noise, Ned Land starts playing the instrument and singing to cover up his suspicious activity. Later, for the seal, he plays and sings a protest song about how Captain Nemo feeds his crew worms and fishes and eels for breakfast and squid instead of beef.
