This is a variation on the Cinderella story and takes place in a medieval fairy tale world. A fairly cast a spell on Ella (Anne Hathaway) when she was a baby that makes her do anything she is told to do. She falls in love with Prince Charmant (Hugh Dancy) and when his evil uncle Edgar (Cary Elwes) orders Ella to kill the prince with a dagger in what they call "the Hall of Mirrors" at midnight, she fears she can't stop herself from doing it. But when midnight strikes, Ella summons the power to drop the dagger and break the spell of obedience. It's not a typical carnival style hall of mirrors, but that's what they call it.
