The Naked Prey is a really excellent jungle adventure movie set in the mid 19th century. A white elephant hunter known only as "Man" (Cornel Wilde) is being hunted by African tribesmen, who let him go so they can chase him for sport.
As we watch "Man" in the wild evading the tribesmen, Lizards and other herps and mammals are shown occasionally as part of the jungle background. Usually there is no connection between them and the action. We see some random chameleons, Girdled Lizards, a skink he is hunting for food, and a small chameleon that startles him awake.
Girdled lizards (Sungazers, Armadillo Lizards) are one of my favorite lizard species, and this, so far, is the only time I've seen them in a movie. |
