This is an Italian Giallo from Dario Argento, beloved by his fans for his mastery of low-budget horror films. It has plenty of fake blood, cool cinematography, but the plot is a bit confusing.
In one scene, a man yells at his creepy daughter saying "I told you not to do that again!" then slaps her. She smirks, then we see what she did - there is a green lizard with a pin stabbed through its body writhing on the ground in front of her father. Later he tells the protagonist "She's like that. Just loves to do horrible things. If you could just see what she does to lizards."
I have been told that the lizard is Lacerta bilineata - Western Green Lizard. Fortunately, even though the effect looks very real - I thought they really did stick a pin through a lizard - some of Argento's people have explained that the lizard was not harmed, the effect was done with a false pin. |
