Amphibians in Movies   Pan's Labyrinth (2006)   Spoiler Alert ! Some of these pictures and descriptions may give away plot details that you might not want to know before watching the film.   In Spain in 1944, a young girl named Ofelia's new stepfather is a sadistic military officer. To survive, she escapes into a weird fantasy world of her own creation. We see her go underground to the lair of a giant toad in order to retrieve a key from its belly. The toad roars like a cheesy movie sound effect monster would then shoots out a huge chameleon-like tongue to eat a bug that is crawling on her.
