This is a sci-fi action movie based on the Hugo and Nebula award-winning 1985 novel with the same name which was followed by at least 15 more novels in the series. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) is a young boy who is recruited to fight a race of insectoid aliens who tried to destroy the earth fifty years previously. He is sent into space to an orbiting battle school where he is trained with a team to fight to save the earth. Later Ender fights simulated battles similar to video games then learns that he was actually controling real people who were fighting real life-or-death battles.
The teams fight each other in zero gravity simulated-battle rooms. Ender's first school team is named "Salamander Army" for reasons that aren't made clear. Other teams are named Dragon, Rat, Rabbit, and Squirrel. From information I have found online (I haven't read the novel myself) Ender is also a member of Salamander Army in the novel.
The Salamander Army has logos in their dorm and on their uniforms that show a partly-coiled salamander. It looks more like a lizard than a salamander, so I suspect that the designers didn't look at many pictures of salamanders. Sure, technically there are no salamanders in this movie, just the name and the salamander logos, but for all the times they yell "Go, Salamander, Go!" I had to put it on the list.
