This is a very good silent romantic comedy starring the great Harold Lloyd, who plays Harold Meadows, a shy bachelor, who has a problem with stuttering, who is writing a book for shy men called "The Secret of Making Love" even though he knows little about the subject.

In the turtle scene, Harold has fallen in love with Mary (Jobyna Ralston). The two sit down outdoors, but Harold tells her to get up, after he discovers that there's a pig nursing her young next to Mary. They move to a second location to sit down but get up again when they see some young boys skinny dipping. Then Harold leads Mary to the edge of a pond. She sits down on a log and tells him to sit down next to her on what looks like a large rock. harold sits down, not knowing that he's actually sitting on a large turtle. He gets so wrapped up in the fact that he's able to talk to her without stuttering that he doesn't realize the turtle has pulled him out into the pond and finally he falls in the water as the turtle swims away.

The turtle is actually a sea turtle. You would not find a sea turtle in a pond, but only a sea turtle would work in the joke because any other turtle would be too small to sit on.
