Snakes in Movies   Python Island (2022)   Spoiler Alert ! Some of these pictures and descriptions may give away plot details that you might not want to know before watching the film.   This is a Chinese monster snake movie about a forbidden island with a terrifying snake god that will kill anyone who goes there, then destroy their whole village. At the end, the plot becomes unusually complicated for a monster snake movie. The movie gets bogged down with too much explanation about the giant snakes, magical plants, and a tribe of people who worshipped the snakes and the plants and the relationship between the snakes, the plants, and the villagers. In the beginning we see a boy named Jaishu who is forced to land on the island when he and his uncle are fishing. His uncle rows back to their village and brings back people to save Jaishu. On the island, the villagers find large snake statues, skeletons full of snakes, man-eating flowers, and the remnants of a tribe of people who worshipped snakes. One man tells everyone a tale of an elixir of immortality and the island's snake god. He sees that the island is full of exotic plants worth a fortune. After one of the men crushes some snake eggs, the giant snake finds and kills him then chases after the rescue party, killing some of them. Jaishu escapes and brings some snake eggs back to the village. One of the eggs hatches. He names the baby snake Zhaohua and apologizes for taking it away from its mother. His father and the other villagers find out about the baby snake and demand Jaishu kill it, because its presence puts the whole village in danger, but Jaishu releases it in the water, as hundreds of other snakes crawl towards it because it is related to the snake god. Ten years later Jaishu is a biologist in the city. His boss sends him back to his village to find a magic plant on the island. When he hesitates, his boss lures him there by bringing along her attractive daughter Lily. At the village he learns that people are getting sick from eating snakes. He learns of the legend of the Zujian tribe on the island - people with human heads and snake bodies who lived in a place that granted them eternal life. The villagers and scientists travel to the island to search for the magical plant. Jaishu meets Zhaohua who has grown into a large golden striped python, one of the snake gods of the island that protect the magic plants, and mates with another giant python. Zhaohua saves Jaishu, but strangles one of the bad guys from the village who wants to ransack the island, then Jaishu saves Zhaohua with a magic plant. Most of the snakes we see, including the giant snakes, are computer-generated animations, but there are a few real snakes.,including a small green snake on a bush, and the hatchling Zhaohua.
